A crown, commonly called a cap, is placed on the damaged tooth to restore its shape, appearance, and function. Crown is also placed on Dental Implants. The crowns used commonly are made up of ceramic or porcelain for greater aesthetics. Porcelain can be combined with metal to make a crown more resistant to occlusal forces.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A Dental Bridge is made up of one/more false teeth attached to crowns of the adjacent abutment teeth. Just like crowns, these are made up of ceramic or porcelain. It is also placed over Dental Implants.

When do we need a Dental Crown or a Dental Bridge?

• After Root Canal treatment
• Fractured tooth
• Large fillings that might fracture the tooth
• On Dental Implants
• Poorly Shaped Tooth
• To replace one/more missing teeth between two natural teeth

How are Dental Crowns or Bridges made and placed?

1. First, the tooth is reduced to the required size to properly fit the crown or the bridge.
2. Secondly, an impression will be recorded for the exact measurement so that a lab technician can make it perfect.
3. Lastly, if you require the crown to be exactly the same as the shade of your teeth, then the shade will be selected, and a temporary crown will be fixed so that it doesn’t interfere with your eating and aesthetes until the permanent comes from the lab.
